I was busy with the business and trying to move forward, making some big financial decisions and exploring accreditation and in hops the bunny.  She’d been out in the garden, and I’d noticed her earlier as she moved across from one bed to another, seeking the shade of the bushes and some, to my eyes, unappetizing leaves.  Why is it she always goes for the dried-up ones?…anyway.

There was something definitely off with her back legs, and she was sliding all over the kitchen floor and scrabbling to get to her feet.  It was quite shocking to see our beloved bunny in such a state.

I rang the vet, and they were able to see her pretty much straight away, and there we sat in their air-conditioned surgery waiting to be seen.  She was half in and half out of her basket and resting her front paws on my leg, gently licking the leg of my shorts when we were called in to see the vet.

Not much of an answer on the hips and legs; probably arthritis, and came away with some more eye drops as she has another eye ulcer that we hadn’t noticed and didn’t seem to be bothering her.  Oh yes, I’ve got plenty of the medication, I confidently said, knowing as I did we have at least two new bottles.  Except when I got home, I noticed they are out of date!  Another job for Monday to add to the list.  We have enough to see her through.

The vet had asked me if she was a house bunny.  Yes, mainly I said, feeling embarrassed that she was covered in dried leaves and soil entangled in her fur with dirty legs that she can’t reach to lick. Wondering what the vet thought of my kitchen floor!

Meanwhile, apart from maybe looking a bit stiff when she gets up, she’s not sliding around the floor.  Was I too hasty to get myself another bill?
