What’s a chapter of your life you’d title “The Hard Years” — and what got you through it?

Some chapters are on repeat. This morning we’ve taken a first-year herring gull to the vet, found at the side of the road opposite East Cliff playground. We were trying to piece together what might have happened. Apparently, some doofus threw a takeaway out of their car window, and the gulls were seen in the middle of the road eating it, last night so we’re wondering if the gull was caught by a car while trying to eat.

The plan was to give it some water and leave it to recover, but on approach, its wings were strong, and it tried unsuccessfully to fly off.  So after going to the vet that wasn’t open, we returned home for a box.  Back to the vet for their opening at 8.30am.

So we wait to hear if it can be rehabilitated.  Or even if a place can be found to rehabilitate it if it stands any chance at all

As I was in the vets filling out the wildlife form, we were told that another patient had to take priority as they were having seizures.  Seems it’s not just people affected by the heat.
