It was our local summer fete, and seeing this old advert made us chuckle, because locally the saying was Harwich for the continent, Frinton for the incontinent.

It points to our ability to laugh at ourselves and the fact that Frinton was known for where people went to live when they’d retired. It’s a place of some very nice properties, and it was all about whether or not you lived inside the gates. Living on the inside of Frinton between Frinton and the railway gates meant you were proper posh. I don’t know if that holds now and I think I’ve written before about a plumber we knew telling us about people’s bathrooms.

Friends have been showing us photos of our local ballot papers. A record number of candidates now that boils down to not as many as it would appear. We wonder whether it’s to try and split the vote between Farage and the bin? Could Count Binface seriously beat Nigel Farage to the UK parliament? | ABC NEWS

Farage has been seen more in Clacton and the surrounding villages since all this started, as have Reform people coming from all over, and many leaflets drop through the door. He’s going door to door, and his people are coming in from all over, so who knows where all this will take us. I have no idea what my previously reform- loving neighbours are doing this time around. I don’t think we’ve got our ballot papers yet, and the people involved in the election have been saying about how they aren’t used to having so many people on the ballot paper, envelopes aren’t the right size, it’s caused a big fuss.
