Lots of sound bites but at least they are measuring outcomes so let’s see shall we. Revolution apparently.
Innovation apparently. 20billion on R&D they say. A science super power they say. Why does that have a whiff of exceptionism.
Green finance, green bonds. That sounds good.
Help to grow… unlocking institutional investment… scale up visa…R&D tax incentives for the UK… science and technology superpower.
Perhaps Alpen will finally change those bags?
No mention of the hostile environment (sweep that under the carpet)
Schools and life long learning, wide ranging skills investment, technology colleges, apprenticeship funding.
It wasn’t my numeracy skills that lost me my job. Just unimportant to anyone other than those who attended.
They are obsessed with flags! But yeah ok. All at sea is about right.
Climate change? But investment in airports! Domestic flights the worst.
The multiplier will help us.
Alcohol duty, glad they are listening to the world health organisation. 6 duty rates now. Cheap high alcohol will be taxed more. Draught duty relief 3p cut.
We’re listening as we’re late for the memorial service. We’d planned a meal before arrival but all cancelled.
Fuel duty rise cancelled a week before cop26 but nothing about the environmental protection. Anything more to help our taxi and delivery drivers?
We’re waiting to hear about more for the environment…
We’re late.
A moral challenge he talks about covid in the past tense? Hello?
Government does have limits but there is also responsibility. They have shown us how our most marginalised are treated.
How’s that law suit about PPE going on?
Glad they are listening to the Rowntree trust. I’ll be interested to see what they say, in real terms. Turns out not listening quite so hard as they would like us to believe. But that’s changed now after a period of reflection?
The opposition leader isolating because of covid despite the pretence of covid being over.
We’re really late now. I don’t know what the hold up is. Ambulances going by.
NHS? Covid isn’t in the past.
Early years – sure start it turns out is important after all!
Nothing about fuel prices. Rising food prices.
High street property too expensive to rent but help for those who already own property.
We’re ten minutes late now. People are out of their cars talking to each other. Mile upon mile of tailbacks. Road closed.
Now we’re really late.
Yes I’m tired of the smoke and mirrors.
How can you trust people who rob us when we are at our weakest?
So we arrived at the service just as it had started. The crash looked pretty bad. Hope the people who went to hospital are ok.
We’d booked a table at the village pub, my sibling had mentioned how Wednesday is usually slow, how they’d probably have to get more staff in so be sure to book. We gave them a heads up when we thought things were getting tight as we sat in the tailback. As it was we never got there. I wonder how many people had made the same plans. Poor pub, trying to survive.
I don’t know if the ambulance was delayed but it highlights the knock on effects for business of delays. Not to mention health.

An odd day for some, birth and death. Toddlers vomiting at home with impeccable timing.
Of course we took the bunny. Not to the service or the wake in the village hall but had her out for a run around the bushes, as you do when a whole day home alone feels too long. Good job we did, we were back late. The hedgehog’s must have wondered why their plate was empty. Food only half eaten this morning. The first shift missed out.
